THE BIG BUPKIS RIDES AGAIN: on Thursday 17 September I’ll be presenting a one night only revival of The Big Bupkis!  A Complete Gentile’s Guide to Yiddish Vaudeville at Cloud City in Williamsburg.  Don’t miss it!

This fall, I’ll be appearing with the New Yiddish Rep in their production of Joseph Buloff’s legendary Yiddish translation of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman.

 

Past appearances:

Tuesday 26 May 2015 at 7 PM at the Yidish-vinkl in Mexico City:  ”Yidishe Peña” — an evening of songs and stories in Yiddish, with Spanish supertitles.  In concert with Miryem-Khaye Seigel.

Sunday 22 February 2015 at 1:30 PM at the Sholem Aleichem Cultural Center in the Bronx — Purim party.  This will be a glat Yidish appearance including magic and humorous recitations.  Also on the bill, Lorin Sklamberg of the Klezmatics.

Wednesday 28 January 2o15 at 3:15 PM and 8:45 PM, the Jack Feldstein’s short animation How to Break into Yiddish Vaudeville will see its world debut at the New York Jewish Film Festival.  Script by Shane Baker and Allen Lewis Rickman, narration by Shane Baker.  Illustrations by Ellen Stedfeld.  Shown on a bill with the film Natan.

Wednesday 21 January 2015 at 6 PM in “Language Matters” at the National Museum of the American Indian in NYC: special program to kick off the broadcast of the PBS series on disappearing languages.  Yours truly will provide the surprise Yiddish segment.  Also on the bill: poet Bob Holman and a hula troupe!

Sunday 11 January 2015 at 9 PM appearance in Force Majeure variety show at the Cobra Club.  ”The Longest 10 Minutes in Showbiz” — mostly magic.  Also on the bill:  clown Audrey Crabtree and Lady Aye the Sword Swallower.  Host Tanya Solomon.

Friday 2 January 2015 at 7:30 AM EST (yes, folks, 7:30 in the ante meridian!) at the Metropolitan Room, when we’ll be breaking the Guiness World’s Record for the longest variety show in history.  Tickets and information here, live feed for those who can’t attend in person here.  Also on the bill:  Tony Danza and Marilyn Maye.
